update 2024
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that Hand of Dimes as a band has come to an end.
We (Nev and Neil) got back together in 2010, to rekindle a songwriting partnership which began in the 80’s with the band Kooga. The initial intention was to write some songs and maybe a play a few gigs. The songs quickly developed into a collection of stories that deeply connected us with our roots which we thought were worth recording. This resulted in the album “RAISE” released in 2016. To achieve this, we were blessed to have fantastic local musicians who made up the band. Mark Maybry on bass, David Stephenson on drums and Colin Edwards on guitar. Without these guys none of it would have been possible.
The response to the album was fantastic and many opportunities for gigs and festivals came our way. However being a self-managed, self-funded band with other commitments, we had to manage our expectations as to the extent of our ability to tour, write and record new material and develop the bands profile.
Over the years we’ve had some amazing collaborations with many other bands and musicians : FM, Thunder, Magnum, The Quireboys, Jim Kirkpatrick, Chris Buck, Bruce John Dickinson, Phil Campbell and many others who we’ve had the privilege of sharing a stage with.
We have to thank our ever faithful road crew who have been with us all along our journey. Nev’s brother Iain, Lianne, Janie, Jamie, and Sara.
Also GTFM DJ Andy Fox and promoter Robert Idwal Jones for always flying our flag and of course the “Steelhouse Family” for some very special Festival appearances which will stay with us forever.
Most of the fantastic photos we have on our site were taken by our good friend Darren Griffiths who has been a huge suporter of the band since day one.
So…we sincerely thank every one of you for your support, messages, encouragement and love. The very best to all of you, keep the faith with the old and embrace the new. Rock On!
